Armistice
The rain is falling drop on drop.
It’s lessened but it doesn’t stop.
No lightning breaks the coal dark sky,
no noise of cars nor passers-by.
I have the night here all alone,
activity stripped to the bone.
No barking dogs, no shouts and cheers
of parties shifting up their gears.
The whole world’s snuggled under covers,
strangers, enemies and lovers.
For this night, disputes delayed.
All our petty gripes allayed.
Rain the perfect arbitrator,
our woes will have to find us later.
Good one

Me, too. When I’m safe inside.

Sounds wonderful! I like the concept of a hush during the rain — the world does seem to slow down a little, at least. We still are getting a little marine layer in the morning, but it burns off by about 9 am — then it gets hot — by the coast, 85 is hot, and it’s likely to be hotter by the weekend!

Cool here in the morning, warm during the day, a tad cooler at night. Lovely weather.

Sounds ideal — I wish ours would stay as it is for a while!

If only the weather could really end wars! And we could predict the weather, of course.
Beautiful beautiful poem. I could not only read it, but I could also feel it.
