Sorry, Yoli. This was just too funny not to share. I think she was objecting to the incredibly scratchy hoop skirt under her pretty dress. Her mom took it off her at the restaurant and I felt how uncomfortable it must have been. The rest of the day she was all smiles…

This is a great collection of light photos. I love the shot of Yoli — when I was in HS, we wore crinolines under full skirts — the more the better. My mother used to say we all looked like “tea cozies!” I hated them for their scratchiness!

I wore them, too, but this was a hoop skirt made of really coarse netting and the seams were cut so the unhemmed edges faced in. They were torture. I think if it had been worn inside out so the scratchy side was agains the dress, not her legs, it would have been a bit better.
