Family Feud
A skin of wine, flagon of malt
were meant to alter the gestalt
of a relationship gone wrong
and left to fester for too long.
It was meant to be a gift
left at a door to seal a rift—
a treasure left there in the dust
to heal a wound and restore trust.
But battles don’t so easily end.
A sincere gift may just offend.
Too much whiskey, too much wine
do not prompt reason when they combine.
They render one less than astute.
No offering of peace will suit
one determined to find fault
and so the feuding did not halt.
Prompt words today are trust, combine, gift, battle and suit.

Oh Judy you were reading my mind again. I am so down today and your poem almost has the words in it that describe my plight…. I had to go back to find the cognate words, as I am not all here today.. My secondary problem is my son is having family problems and it seems that, though I try to stay out of it, my words seem to be taken out of context, creating other meanings to him, so I just make it worse in his eyes.
How did you know that this is how I was feeling this morning. I also like the photo example, that is a picture of my mind today~!

These things pass. I always find my best way to get my mind of things is to write or do art. Sorry my poem had a base in reality for you, Marion. xoxo

Strangely enough, when I tried to post the reply above, it trashed the entire poem on my blog! Nature’s way of saying that writing and doing art can dispel the problem for awhile? I have restored it. Message heard.

Don’t be sorry. It exactly hit the spot~! I did copy it and sent it to him with an apology. However my main pain is my sister, the last of my siblings died this morning, I am the only one left out of six. Now to get a little more light on that picture….
