Art Studio Sweep

I came down to my studio for the first time in a long time. Since I had my camera, I did a little sweep around the room to let you know what a collage artist’s studio looks like. It is very very small–5 feet by 20 feet–so every inch needs to count. Perhaps I’ll show you the inside of some of those drawers later…

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Thanks, I really enjoyed your tour this morning~!

I love your neatness, I would show my work place, but I can not get through the door, and must remove some of the stuff that has flowed outside to even get to it. I also love your garden, such a peaceful and secluded spot, mine (I like to say), is a wild-scape, and yours is so orderly, beautiful and green. You make me jealous, and ALMOST upset my Narcissistic Personality Disorder. My shop is a mess, you have more stuff and it is all neatly organized, I have one dog, you have two, I have two cats, you have four, “anything I can do, you can do better”, but I am more spread out than you are, in more ways than one~!

If it makes you feel any better, I am down to two cats now. Annie, 19 years old, died a couple of months ago and Fran and Roo just disappeared..My house backs up to a mountain range so lots of wild critters out there.

I lost my third cat, old Butty, who was so old (17) that I was forced to have him put down, very sad and difficult thing to do, after so many years and Tami is only three years old right now. I did not miss spell Butty’s name; when he was young he would butt the other cats like a goat, and was “king of the mountain” For a while people would put kittens down at my gate, until I put up a sign that I could not afford any more. A friend down the road would “find homes and place them out” after I had them “fixed” and had taken care of their health.

Most of my plants are naturally growing natives and I do not have the advantage of the tropical weather that you have. I do have a good large wood working shop (which stays a mess) and also build small items such as jewelry, lamps, chairs etc., and build or rebuild musical instruments.

Again, thanks, I always to like to know how a person lives when communicating with them, it is like making a friendly visit into their home. Guess I am part voyeur and part dreamer. You may have seen the poem which describes my outlook on my place. The flowers are all over the place right now and in about two weeks I will be able to take photos of my place when the ground will be completely covered by a blanket of flowers. At that time I will post myI do not have any real close neighbors, but like you, wild animals all around me, which bother me when the cats do not come in at nights which is very rare.

Tami does not leave my side most of the time, and is a good watch dog, as I am hard of hearing. I can say “come in” and she starts barking running at the door, but she is so gregarious that she would just welcome a real intruder.

    TRUTHFULNESS OR VERACIDID
My house is sometime a mess
    of that I must confess.
But Maria and Emelia are here,
so a clean house is now near.
    But both Tami and I,
    can never tell a lie.
We’ll do all over it again,
turning it into another pig pen.
    Emelia always fusses at me,
saying it’s easy as can be,
to be a much neater man,
    just use the garbage can.
Those papers lie in a pile,
don’t you know how to file.
And the dirt that is on the floor,
just try to keep it out doors.
The pan left on the stove,
has something that looks like mold.
and those dishes in the sink,
    are already beginning to stink.
I have such a beautiful place,
if I only didn’t have to face,
    all the comments they bring,
when they leave, I always sing.
    \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
    Mi hogar es un desastre
    De eso lo confieso.
    Pero aquí está María,
    Para limpiar esta casa
    Pero Tami y yo,
    No puedo mentir,
    Una vez más será,
    Otra pocilga.
    Emelia se queja de mí,
    Es fácil como puede ser,
Ser un hombre mucho más ordenado,
    Sólo use la basura.
    Esos papeles en una pila,
    No sabes cómo presentar.
Y la suciedad en el suelo,
Sólo mantenerlo fuera de las puertas.
    La sartén en la estufa,
    Tiene algo que es molde.
Y los platos en el fregadero,
    Están empezando a apestar.
    Qué hermoso lugar,
    Si no tuviera que enfrentarme,
    Todos los comentarios que traen,
    Cuando salen solo canto.
