I had never learned the name of this flowering tree that I planted 18 years ago, and I thank Grace at broadwaymatron.com for telling me its name. I don’t know why it photographs as blue as it is actually a dark purple. Perhaps too much sun. I like this blue color even more than its actual color, so I’ll support the illusion. Although the description calls it a bush, it says it can grow to 20 feet high. I think mine is about ten feet high–maybe higher.

I’m sure it’s not one we have here, so I can’t help with identification

I love a challenge – according to Google image search it is a Duranta erecta (which sounds a bit risque…)

“I like this blue color even more than its actual color, so I’ll support the illusion.” … LOL. Good choice. 🙂
I hate it when it goes the other way though — when you’re trying so hard to capture something, but your camera just won’t/can’t hold/present what your eyes can.

Me, too. There are two or three types of flowers I’ve never been able to capture–thunbergia and morning glories and shrimp plants among them.

They are beautiful and I tend to overlook them because I usually use the garage as the entrance to my house.. But then these little guys surprise me every time I go to answer the front gate door.
