I’ve been outside so much during this Shelter in Place period that I’ve been seeing lots of birds. I think Granny’s Bird of the Day prompt has ended so I’m just going to do my own private bird of the day for awhile. If anyone else wants to do so and link to it, just do so in comments. My friend Paul Hart, an avid birdwatcher and genius photographer, identified this for me.

Judy this one doesn’t look like the North American robin. I haven’t been able to identify it for sure but it could be an immature blue bird, or titmouse.

It’s not a robin. I hope someone identifies it, because I am very curious..definitely in thrush family tho…

My friend Paul identified it as a female vermilion flycatcher. I know the males but would never have guessed this was a female.

The vermilion flycatcher is a much better bet — robin has the red farther up on the breast! It’s a beautiful bird, though!

It may well be your version of a Robin. The English Robin is slightly different than the North American Robin and yours may be yet another. The colors are pretty consistent throughout. Do they lay blue eggs? That’s probably the “tip-off.”

Mystery solved. It is a femal Vermilion Flycatcher. So different from the vividly scarlet-all-over and slenderer male.

Great shot! The male is so much more colorful! As with most of the birds! 🙂
