Mantrap 101
(Grading on the Curve)

What quantity of your allure
is due to a fine manicure?
What woman ever won a date
by means of being Latinate?
This tidbit I am drawn to share.
What guy was ever known to care
whether your purse matched your shoes?
No sane man has been known to cruise
shoe stores as a place to lure
a conquest, and you may be sure
that when he’s waiting at your gate,
no man is going to berate
the fact that you aren’t wearing Prada.
If your shape rates “Yadda yadda,”
I’d say that you will be successful,
and all the other stuff’s just stressful.
If you want to flummox him,
just skip the rest and hit the gym.

    Oh, you have been reading our minds again. Now give us another one pointing out that in the end, to a real (serious) man of your future, it is what is within that counts most.

        Ha, ha, here we go again. Just this morning, while reading a post I sometimes read, written by a retired Methodist minister, giving me thoughts both good and bad. This is a synopsis of what he said this morning and, in a way, fits with your poem. (it also brought back memory of my “SIN” poem written some time back)

        More or less here is what he said: “The Bible draws a clear distinction between temptation and sin. The Bible says Jesus was tempted, but he didn’t sin. If you drive past a beautiful girl poured into her little sister’s skimpy dress and look at her, it’s “temptation”. If you circle the block to take a second look, it’s a sin; But, that too, is temptation. Temptation is touchy enough. It doesn’t help to pile on false guilt.”

    You are SO right. Someone once pointed out to me that whether I plucked my eyebrows or not might matter to another woman, but no man cared about my eyebrows. It occurred to me at that point that we really dress for other women. THEY appreciate all our work on our makeup and that careful matching of bag and shoes. Men neither care nor notice.
