I love this bush in the yard of Tricia and Paul’s house across the street from my sister’s house in Arizona. Thanks to Janet Waters for identifying it for me. I had no idea that there was a bush variety of morning glory. Thanks, Janet.

    Oh but actually what really impressed you was that you like their house and their rock because they are orange. Ha~! Sometime I have a problem identifying one of your photos of flowers, not knowing the actual size. I first thought this was a Jimsonweed, but size and lief were very wrong. Funny side note, Jimsonweed was a BAD when we were growing up. It is poison~! But now they sell it in nurseries, calling “Moon Flower”, due to the fact that it blooms at night. I see no warnings, but it causes anticholinergic intoxication, and could be very harmful to kids.

      You did it! Thanks, Janet. It never once occurred to me that it could actually be a species of morning glory as I’d only ever seen the invasive lawn-invading vine type before. I will immediately take it out of the mystery category and label it in my blog, thanks to you!!

        It surprised me too that there’s a bush variety — but morning glory flowers were always a favorite of my mother’s. She had a friend who always gave her a morning glory plant in a pot as a birthday gift — they always flowered on the day of her birthday in September!

            Yes — as a kid, I believed that. I have since wondered if he planted one a day for a couple of weeks so there would one blooming on the right day 🙂 !!

    I replant morning glories every spring because I’m in Michigan. Does that bush persist year after year? I favor the blossom with the blue stripes. Apparently, the bee does too.
