Yes. The WaPo has had several op/ed pieces lately about this. The information coming out of the CDC lately has just been… wanting. First of all, I’m in the camp that believed they never should have lifted the mask requirements in the first place. Then when they are saying “put them back on” they are not making it clear about the variants and how the unvaccinated are affecting the vaccinated and vice versa. I’ll be wearing a mask in public for probably decades, because frankly, I’m not going to rely on my neighbor being truthful about whether s/he got a vaccine or not. Besides, people… ew.
I’m glad we live in a relatively lightly populated area because I don’t trust anyone either. We haven’t gone anywhere much. For one thing, it has been raining every day since the beginning of June and today was I think the FIRST completely rain-free day — so that hasn’t made it inspiring to go out. Meanwhile, not only COVID, but everything that goes around is coming around. All the things we didn’t pick up because we were in lockdown — everyone is sniffling and coughing and I don’t know what it means, but I don’t want anything to do with it. Other than visiting well-vaccinated friends, it’s another stuck at home summer. I don’t know how many summers we have, but it would be nice to get a little freedom back while we are still able to enjoy it!
