Rockslide in San Juan Cosala Raquet Club, Oct 5, 2021

At 7 o’clock this morning, my gardener called to say there had been another rockslide coming down from the mountain in the arroyo where I’ve been walking for the past few mornings. I published those views of an idyllic scene  and wildflower tangles that were taller than my head over the past few days. Today it is a very different scene. I went out to take videos. Check the first one out here: https://youtu.be/7iZiWdM5mmE

Here are some stills of the slide at its top end at the corner of Ilie Nastase and Pancho Gonzales – a block from my house. Click on photos to enlarge:

Here is my post on the bigger rockslide 14 years ago: https://judydykstrabrown.com/2015/11/10/one-word-photo-challenge-pick-your-own-avalanche/

And here are photos taken three days ago of my walk up the same ravine (arroyo) all these boulders and all this water just came down. I imagine it is a very different scene now: https://judydykstrabrown.com/2021/10/02/proof-of-a-wild-mountain-walk-a-wild-redemption/

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

I’m so glad you selected the house you ive in rather than one a few houses away! Rock slides change the area forever, and a second one has to be scarier than the first! I’m glad you are ok, and it sounds as if your house was unscathed once again!
