In 35 years of growing bougainvillea, I have never seen the central flower bloomed out like this!
Here is how they usually look:
But, oops. I suddenly had a brainstorm and went outside to check again, and guess what? When I moved the bougainvillea branch aside, this is what I discovered:
That bloom was actually the bloom of this tiny succulent peeking through the bougainvillea. Another of life’s illusions shattered!

Ha..So glad I had the brainstorm before posting. I was thinking that they looked so similar to Jade Plant blooms, noticed the little succulent under the bougainvillea and went to double check.

Hah! I wondered when I saw the first shot if there might be some collusion between the two plants! But it really did look like the flower belonged to the bougainvillea! What a pretty flower the jade plant has!
