Hot Wax, Cold Water
He who seeks to dip his wick
should study well which girl to pick.
She was a candlemaker’s daughter,
who lived by what her father taught her,
and though he wooed and thought he’d caught her,
melted wax that meets cold water
floats on top and forms a crust
quickly quenching any lust.
If he seeks to woo and win her,
it will take much more than dinner,
pop of cork and candlelight.
A match, a sip and then a bite
are not sufficient to win a dame
accustomed to a candle’s flame.
He’d do much better if at the start
he had sought to melt her heart.

Such a fun poem it feels like a limerick series.

I love that what WP chose to put on their “More on WordPress” recommendations at the bottom of my “Hot Wax, Cold Water” poem is “Ultimate guide on how to get stains out of clothes.” Ha! I guess they took the poem title literally.

My challenge….you challenged me!!! As I have said to everyone, you definitely have superior poetry skills and this fabulous play on words proves it. Luckily I know my limitations 🙂
