Grandpa Discovers Virtual Reality
I’ve been over yonder and frankly I’m perplexed
about how all the young ‘uns seem to be so under-sexed.
Virtual reality makes real-time life a bore.
Why bother with reality when you can live on lore?
Real life takes some gumption but virtual life’s a snap.
Who needs real love with Kim Kardashian upon your lap?
It seems that in the future perhaps all folks will live thusly,
sitting watching screens to live their lives vicariously.
Prompt words are perplexed, vicariously, frankly, yonder and snap. Image by Lucrezia Carnelos on Unsplash.

Perhaps that’s how future will pan out!

Hope not but fear it will.

That’s the way we are headed.

It seems a possibility. In certain sectors, already true, Grandpa says!

Frankly, I think for many people — especially our age group — we are already in that space. These past few years have changed us. Maybe not everyone, but definitely me. Of course time was having a go at me anyway, so I’m older and slower moving by dint of years though I have yet to find anything about virtual reality but headache. I do have friends who love it, but we aren’t them.
The thing is, at our ages, things you can do in your own home make sense. We don’t drive a lot and many of us can’t or don’t want to drive at all if we can help it. But seeing kids escaping reality before they’ve actually LIVED in reality is sad. Okay. Pathetic. At that age I was ready to do anything just because it looked interesting. Many of these kids have never experienced life. You have to wonder if, after living in virtual reality, if life won’t seem rather drab in comparison.

I know. I think the same thing.. and if they’ll go after those same values in their real life: violence, flash, recklessness.

Kardashian ? In defense of virtual grandpas everywhere with unlimited virtual choices there would be other names to lend to our virtual voices. And that would be the reality of it. Now where did I put my book ? I can never find anything in these darn goggles…

But unfortunately it is the Kardashians who have the reality site where you even have to pay to put clothes on the characters. I’ve heard they are making millions on it.

I have never been there. And won’t ever go there. If someone wants to pay for it and thinks it is entertaining good for them. PT Barnum made his money and so can they. It just won’t be my money adding to it.

I have just read about it.. I wouldn’t go there either. I couldn’t even watch their reality show. Ridiculous family.

In the pandemic, I’ve seen the older generations embracing the video calls, Zoom, Zoom religious services, etc. more than I see my younger friends do this. I think because after video calls all day for work, my peers and I are sick of these platforms. So I see some truth to this!
