Self-Improvement

Self-Improvement

I can magnify with optics or reduce with diet pills,
but there is no solution to another of my ills.
When I’m feeling challenged by a flurry of activity,
overwhelmed and harried due to my proclivity
to stave off any tedium by means of overbooking,
with one too many bubbling pots on my stovetop cooking,
there is one solution that is valid and concrete.
I need to find a method to turn down the heat!

Prompt words today are magnify, optics, flurry, tedium, concrete and when.

Judy I received “When Old Dames Get Together” poems and coloring book. I love it. It definitely put a smile on my face because I see myself in the poems and artwork. It’s a fun book to read and the artwork is excellent and goes along very nicely with your poems. Being 75, so much of it reminds me of myself. It’s not my age or wrinkles that bothers me as much as the physical body declining faster then my liking.

Winter in Michigan is boring so I’ll have fun getting my colored pencils out to color. My artist in me has been put on the back burner for years because of many spine surgeries so this may spark my hidden talent I’ve buried deep down to surface again…👩‍🎨

So glad you like it, Connie. It was fun to put together. I’d love to have a photo of you based on how you relate to the book. Maybe just reading or coloring in it or perhaps you demonstrating one of the poems you like best. It would be fun to see how you would choose to express this. I’m asking others to do so as well.

I have your book on my “to buy” list. This month, between the electric bill, the oil (heating) bill, and the annual pumping of the septic system, it was $1200 in utility bills — not counting trash collection and telephones. I think I may have a little room in the budget in February — and it’s a short month, which helps too. I’m looking forward to it!
