Caged Bird
My cage is comfortable, but
it is a homey sort of rut.
Is it not reasonable for
a bird to want a whole lot more?
Confined to this continual squeeze,
I yearn for freedom of the trees—
the air, the feel of wind on wings.
One should not confine wild things.
Prompts today are reasonable, homey, confine, trees.
It’s cruel to cage any animal

It does feel so wrong to keep birds in cages, especially when they cant open their wings at all. Great poem, Judy.

I know. We actually had a parakeet when i was a little girl but he was out of the cage as much as he was in it.

I always wanted a parrot after wearing one at a zoo when I was about 5 years old. It chose my head as a perch and refused to leave for a while.
