Men and Boys dressed up as women and girls, bushels of flour flung through the air. Must be Fat Tuesday! I’d brushed myself off before these photos were taken. More surprises awaited when I disrobed to shower, however! I could have baked a loaf of bread!!!
Goodness — there must be a loaf of bread for everybody in town in these photos! What a festival!

The air was white with flour the entire time. It looked like show. Everyone who saw a gringa standing there made sure I got a face full. All in good fun.

Wow that’s crazy. My husband and I almost forgot that it was Pancake Tuesday. There was so little coverage on the news, in fact there was none.

Why Pancake Tuesday? A new term for me.

Shrove Tuesday is commonly referred to as Pancake Tuesday in the UK and North America. Shrove Tuesday was the last opportunity to use up eggs and fats before embarking on the Lenten fast and pancakes are the perfect way of using up these ingredients.
We used to do Pancake Tuesday breakfasts at my school every year but it was discontinued when we couldn’t get the equipment anymore from the gas company.
