Wounded in Action

Looks sort of like bad graffiti, doesn’t it? This is what happens when you slip going between the pool and hot tub! A fast application of ice and elevation saved the day!  These photos were taken  11 hours later—swelling almost gone. What an inappropriate bid for sympathy! See the fuller story HERE.

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

It looks terrible! I’m so sorry that happened. At least there wasn’t a church steeple around (inside joke).

No, I hadn’t come home for Christmas break from college yet. I think you and Mother were putting up decorations.

You know when I went to the fortune teller in Taiwan, I told my friend who went with me that he was going to mention the Xmas Tree fiasco in Wyoming when we got marooned up in the mountains when we went to cut the Xmas tree. He did, but he also told me of another time when I was injured concerning a Xmas tree and that it was less potentially dangerous but I was hurt worse than when I was in the life-threatening accident…That was a shock. I just found the paper the other day where the friend jotted down what he was saying…What he warned against influenced my actions for years.

That looks really uncomfortable — some neosporin or vaseline or aquafor overnight should help it heal and keep it a little cool! Take care, and keep your head out of the water!

Judy – have you seen a doctor? That looks like a pretty extensive abrasion and I would be concerned that the environment in the pool or on the steps was possibly germ or algae laden. Is the water chlorinated at all? I know I sound like a mom, and this is not medical advice of course. Do you have any topical ointment Please do take care and baby yourself.

Babsje, I am already on antibiotics and the abraded parts seem to be healing and not infected. It feels fine, just sorta sore when I touch the part that was the most swollen. Thanks for your concern.
