Reclaimed Words, For the Sunday Whirl Wordle 611

Reclaimed Words

I fall victim to your shallow spell,
shattered by your drifting gaze
that catches on me, then drifts on,
to mingle with the gathering haze.

The damp roils in and sunlight dims,
night mingling with the fading day.
The shattered call of evening birds
echo and then fade away.

When I call out, words split in two,
spilling their meaning to the sand.
When I attempt to gather them,
they fall again from twitching hand.

As you retreat, your power fades
and I reclaim each scattered word,
change their order and intent
into phrases less absurd.

Words once wasted assume power
directed at another ear.
Amazing how the selfsame words
gain power with a loved one near.

For The Sunday WhirlWordle 611 the words are: mingled dim damp shallow spell gaze drifts shattered call twitch words split

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Beautiful, Judy, It says so much to me, (in a sad but beautiful way), and a perfect word picture. Thanks for helping to start off another less hot lifeless Sunday. If it was not so very hot here, I would get in my car and drive up into the hills to to hear the chatter of birds awaking and mull over that poem where your words will at least give me solace from memories of times past.

    This is a Keeper~!

Oh yes only 9:00am and already 102 degrees, that would be ok except not even a breeze and terribly dry. When I “take a ride”, I insist on Tami coming along, but when it is this hot, I fear her getting too hot, if I had to stop. I have a “service dog” collar so she goes into the hardware store etc with me.. She is so happy when I say “get your leash” she runs and grabs it and throws it at me~!

Mostly I only carry the leash unattached to her except in a store, and she does a great job of “heeling”, unless she sees a rabbit or some other interest, then I must “yell” at her, “STOP~!”, “stay” then “sit” and she reluctantly stops and sits. If we are walking where there are people, I must attach it, because she wants them all to pet her and will run up to them. She does know all the single word commands BUT sometimes SHE forgets what the last one was~!

I lowered the temperature to 100 and when first stepping in, it feels a bit too warm but then after sitting in it, both water and body are about the same temperature so it feels like a nice warm bath.. But there have been a couple of days that I felt that a little ice would have felt good. what temperature does your pool with natural heat stay comfortable~? Must you mix cold water in it to keep it balanced~?

On our field crews we always rigged a several 55 gallon drums painted flat black and placed on a tower like structure with the shower heads below. This could be controlled mixing cold water with the solar heat. There is something about an outside shower that makes it very nice, I have no idea why~!

My water comes in boiling hot so I mix it 1/2 and 1/2 with water that has been in the pool for 2 day so it is cool. The hot tub I just don’t use for 12 to 24 hours after the water comes in as I refill it every 2 days.
