Power Point

Super Powers

In our wider world of pomp and dollar,
somehow power makes us smaller.
Distracts us from the metaphor
of what a super power’s for.

Those powers we seek In the vast world
wait within us to be unfurled.
In that world we’re given to create,
we hold the key to every gate.

We’re given vision, strength and power
to make a minute of an hour,
to leap ahead or lag behind
in our universe of mind.

I soar the heights. I swim the sea,
and delve the depths to try to free
those powers that I’ve found to be
in that vast space inside of me.

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Ok I’ll correct.. but was this the correct prompt place? When I am directed to a prompt from a different source, I often have a terrible time finding the correct place to post. Part of my directional dyslexia..a curse.

well, here’s the way it works:

first of all, all the W3 prompts are listed here:

        https://skepticskaddish.com/category/poetry/poetry-prompt/

The link at the top of that list is the most recent prompt on any given week.

If you click on the top link on that list this week, you’ll be taken to this page:

        W3 Prompt #64: Wea’ve Written Weekly

This is the URL for this week’s W3, which is #64.

Once you have opened W3 #64, you should see a horizontal white rectangle below the prompt guidelines that says “Mister Linky” on it…

        It looks like this:

Once you have clicked on that “Mister Linky” graphic, you’ll be able to add your link to the list of poets.

        Does this help?

I had never heard of him but yes, he did live in Chapala where D.H. Lawrence lived and D.H. based a character in The Plumed Serpent on Witter. A friend of mine bought the D.H. Lawrence home and turned it into a hotel.

Oh Wow! This is the kind of info I was hoping for. Witter Bynner’s rendition of the TaoTeChing is the first one I ever read. It remains my favorite. So cool about the Bynner-Lawrence connection.

I don’t have a permanent link to it… just found this week’s link on someone else’s post. i am hopeless at figuring out what the actual link is for prompts unless I have it in my favorites..I have a severe dyslexia when it comes to finding things…not an exaggeration.

Yes I read his blog and have from his first posts. I just need a link that will work each week for that particular prompt. All of the regular prompts I follow I have in my favorites so I can click on them and go to their prompt for the day. Can’t find one for W3…just the prompts for each particular week. I’ve asked David if he can supply one. Spatial dyslexia is a type of dyslexia that is closely associated with facial blindness which I have as well and it has gotten much worse as I get older. I have no problem with folks I know well but have a terrible time remembering who new acquaintances are…and trouble finding things that are not in the place I expect them to be.

Yes.. I saw your LOL, but just in case, decided to over-explain, as usual. Looking at the actual definition of “spatial dyslexia,” it occurred to me that that may be the reason I became a writer as it says one way people with this disorder straighten things out is by talking or writing about them! I’d never thought of that before. It may be that doing art (in my case, arranging things) is also a way to sort them out. Every time I’m sure I’ve figured everything out, something creates a new insight. In this case, it was your comment. Thanks, Dolly!!!!

You’ve turned power on its head and it’s perfect! Controlling ourselves and our lives has got to be more rewarding than lording over other folks (or the world).
