Smashed Hopes
My fascination with kale is nil,
but smashed potatoes fill the bill.
They go best with butter and
homemade gravy, never canned.
Rosé goes with clove-studded ham,
but I must admit I am
fond of gin for getting smashed
when the potatoes are mashed!
The dVerse Poets Quadrille challenge prompt is Smash.
And you can find more responses to the prompt HERE.

Haha! Good take and brilliant poem

Ha… gin is not a sin… but I find myself getting smashed ever more rarely.

Me, too. Last time was fifteen years ago, I do believe.

No other kind. My mother made it well but I haven’t tried for years.

I was really into your poem from the very start, Judy, and then those two last lines just made it even better!
Much love,

Throw out the kale and the ham and I’ll take the rest. Mashed taters with real gravy, yum.

My dr. told me to eat uncooked kale.. I’ve been trying but it is gross. I have cut it up fine and mixed it with lots of other things, but still vile.

I’ve heard you can use it in smoothies and can’t taste it.

Smoothies are one of the few foods I still like. I’d hate to ruin them with kale.
