Kindergarten Romeo
A bunch of yellow dandelions
squeezed tight in your fist,
your face all raw emotion,
red faced, you held them out to me,
the ripe odor of little boy
surrounding you like a cloud.
The dVerse poets prompt is to write a poem (probably about guacamole, maybe?) using a mixture of at least four of the following key words: avocado, bunch, chop, cilantro, coriander, cumin, finely, fork, jalapeño, kosher, lime, mash, onion, pepper, raw, red, ripe, salt, seeds, serrano, shell, smoky, spice, squeeze, tomato, white, yellow. Everything else is up to you! (The words I chose were: bunch ripe red squeeze yellow.) Ha! No Guacamole.

Oh I remember picking wild violets for her. And had a few she had given to me pressed and dried in my favorite book. Great memories, thanks~! Eight years old and infatuated with Jane Williams. To me she had the most beautiful voice and sang “Allá en el Rancho Grande” I did not know the words but they sounded great when she sang them~!

Is that the “Rancho Grande” of Mexican fame? That was my friend’s favorite song. He requested it everywhere we went that had mariachis.

Yes I think that it must be. It WAS a beautiful song in the early 40’s from a movie at that time. The words were partly in Spanish and well done. With a sort of yodeling such as , Yi Yi Yii~! I liked it too, but could not find a recording of it. She had a beautiful voice, a beautiful horse and we would go riding around together. She married, had several sons and like all of my other lady friends, is now long dead.
Here is Elvis doing a terrible job of singing it.

Ha. Just my contrary nature, Dolly. Guacamole has become commonplace in my life so I opted for something different.

I offered them to my mum, who graciously accepted them. 🙂

Aw.. bet she loved them. My mom said when I was a baby I would go out and pick the heads off flowers and offer them to her! She graciously pretended she was delighted to see her favorites beheaded.
