Hot as Blazes
I must say that I love gazing
at a fire brightly blazing.
Popping corn or making s’mores,
a well-laid fire never bores!
And when the embers fade to dust
from a fire over-fussed,
then we’ll shuffle off to bed,
toasty warm and aptly fed!
For dVerse Poets the prompt word is “Blaze”
Beautifully written, Judy. I agree with you… fire is never boring, and the smores are delicious.

There is a restaurant here that at the end of the meal brings a small brazier to your table with marshmallows on sticks! It is so fun. Next time I must remember to take graham crackers and Hershey bars!

Popcorn and s’mores — two of the few good things about camping!

In Australia when I was young, we used to call a camp fire the “bush TV” because everyone sat around and stared at it all night! A very relatable poem, Linda x

Love it.. I remember well that staring into a campfire. Or our fireplace..especially during blizzards when the electricity went off for days and the fireplace was our only source of heat, light, and cooking!

I’m in my 50s and I miss those school holidays when we would visit relos on the farm and it was “lights out” when the sun went down, because it was literally too dark to see. No solar panels back then! xox

Love the way you’ve set the scene around this fire.

I love food over open fire, though s’mores have never really made it here…

You could start a new trend, Björn. Do you need a recipe?

So cozy and pleasing from start to finish, Judy. Like a fire itself in that way. When ours has burned to mostly embers, we love to add pinecones. They light up SO pretty.

They used to melt wax over pinecones to make them burn longer. Remember that?

I’m also looking forward to more bonfires this summer.

Thanks, Nicole. Not many bonfires in my life anymore. When I think of bonfires, I think of summer camp in the Black Hills of South Dakota..Loved it.
