Click HERE to order my newest children’s book I Really Want a Puppy that has a QR Code that sings the words of the entire book as you turn the pages to look at the photos!!
What’s a boy to do when all his friends have puppies but he doesn’t? This book’s hero finds a novel way to get around his mom’s reluctance to adopt a dog. This is the third rhymed picture book written by Judy Dykstra-Brown and beautifully illustrated by Isidro Xilonzóchitl, but this one not only tells and shows you the story, it also sings the words of the book to the reader by means of a QR code on the front cover! Drum beats indicate to nonreaders when it’s time to turn the page to see the next illustration. Younger kids love to “learn to read” by singing along with the words to the song while following the words in the book. Older kids just love the story and illustrations.
Use your cellphone to take a photo of the QR code above on the cover to hear the entire book. (It takes you to Youtube and then you need to click to turn the sound on.)
Click HERE to see sample pages and to order. Just $15 during an introductory period and please remember to leave your review on the site and to let me know how you like it as well.
(In Mexico, available from the author at jubob2@hotmail.com or at Diane Pearl’s Gallery.)

Congratulations! I want to republish a book I had published a while back but don’t know where to start since I don’t have money to invest in it right now.

So I looked through and I realized my first step needs to re-illustrate my book. I contacted a friend to do this. Once that is done I think I can upload it or download it or whatever I’m supposed to do! Lol. I’ll keep you posted.

Looks great! My granddaughter is doing a “Ruff Reader” program at the library, where she reads books to service dogs.

This would be perfect…ha. My dogs loved it!!! After Annie died, we were all so despondent. They weren’t playing with each other as usual and we all just spent the afternoon in bed. A few hours later, lying in bed, I played the song and they both sprang up and started playing and never went back to their despondent mood..but I did, I fear. True story…

But I must ask how this program of reading to dogs came about, Lisa!

Judy, I don’t know. Here’s one link, but I think there are chapters all over the US.

This may sound incredibly dumb but for some reason, no matter what I do, my iPhone won’t read a QR code. It won’t stop me from buying your book, but it will stop my from hearing it. Bummer for me, but I’ll read it anyway ☺️

Hold the camera of the phone up to the QR code and snap a photo of it. The square needs to line up around the QR code. Then click on the rectagle that says Youtube on the phone and then on the one that says unmute…and it should play the song. Have you ever read a QR code on a menu or elsewhere with your phone? If so, this should work the same..And works the same on the physical book as well.

How I love this. And how clever…the QR code to hear the words being sung to you. You know how we love being read to or sung to. So clever. Congratulations on the newest.

Thanks, Judy. I’m using it in my English language classes as well. The kids love it! Even an English language teacher who is Mexican said he loves being able to hear the words being pronounced!

What a clever idea to have the QR code to hear the story sung to us. We do love to be read to and sung to. Brilliant. Congratulations on the newest.
