Free Saturday, (For Cee) For FOTD Dec 21, 2024

Free Saturday

Today’s the day I get to do
exactly what I want to do.
To prowl my yard both up and down
clad only in my sleeping gown.
(The air so brisk, I guess I better
also choose to wear a sweater.)
Drink my morning coffee cold,
do not one thing that I’ve been told
to do. Make not one new appointment,
no sunscreen worn or other ointment.
Merely hang out in the shade,
leave home with no arrangements made.
Perhaps I’ll shop the Christmas fair
or simply walk to get some air.
Run into friends and have some lunch
or simply choose to skip the bunch
and have a sandwich on my own,
to drift wherever I am blown
like the dandelion I tore
out of my planter. Like its spore
I’ll fly off free to create more
adventures than I’d counted on
until my day is finally done.
Unplanned, unplotted and unlisted.
My former behavior resisted.
But first, there is this prompt to do.
I simply have to take a few
photos of new flowers for Cee,
(Well, some for her and some for me.)
An hour ago, I had not any,
but now it seems I have too many.
But, unable to make the call,
I guess I’ll have to post them all!

( I really did take all these photos this morning..yes, in my nightgown. If you look closely, you can see that my plants, too, grow where they want to.  Can you find them growing out of nose, eye and ear? Click on photos to enlarge and see detail.)

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, Cee!!!!

The poem was more effortless than the trip to town, which was a nightmare. The traffic was so bad and further backed up by a car/motorcycle accident. I was passed by both the police car speeding to it and later by the ambulance coming from the opposite direction. I’d passed the motorcyclist who luckily had a helmet on––not usual here even though it is now required by law..but nonetheless he was holding his head as though in duress. The Christmas fair was a total loss..nothing of interest to me..but then I made the wrong turn coming out so couldn’t get to my second place I needed to visit and got right back into the huge traffic mess from the accident…with traffic being diverted from both sides. Got off the main road to get away from traffic and drove surface to the other side of town only to find that the only exit back to the main road was blocked by a huge pile of dirt and stone taking up the entire road, so had to backtrack all the way through town again to turn the wrong way on the main road and head back in the direction of the Fair again to make a circle on the other side of the main road to get going in the right direction to come back home. It took hours to complete a trip that should have taken 1/2 hour at its worst. Weekend traffic is always a pain, but given a holiday and an accident and road blockages, it made me determined to stay home until after New Years, except for the fact that I have to go in on the 23rd to pick up arrechera I ordered for Yolanda and Pasiano for their Xmas family dinners. No rest for the wicked. Sorry for the poor motorcycle guy but that said, there has been a motorcycle accident almost every time I’ve gone into town lately. There are more and more motorcycles and most drive absolutely crazy..passing on first the right, then the left, weaving in and out of traffic..many times with two or three passengers..often helmetless children sitting in front of the driver. I’ve been run into by three..once from the back as I was parked at a red light, another time when I was making a left turn and it tried to pass me on the left, clipping off my rear vision mirror..It is just crazy. Okay. Tirade over. Merry Christmas!!!!! ;o)
