“Hubba Hubba!”for Fibbing Friday, Jan 24, 2025

For Fibbing Friday the challenge is:

1. What is a fib? A heart stoppage  that may be cured by a defibrillator.
2. What is a crib? The third chest bone down from the top.
3. What is a bib? The first 39.6 % of the Bible.

5. What is an antler? What you call your mother’s youngest sister.
6. Define staunch. A very strong bad odor.
7. What is a paunch?  Your father’s midday meal.
8. What is a launch? The midday meal in Great Britain.
9. What is a nub? The mirror reflection of the bread used to make a hamburger.
10. What is a hub? A reversed half-hearted cheer.

Wow I have not heard the expresson “Hubba Hubba” in many years, I wonder how it came into use and why it went away. Well not really about toward the end of world war II many such expressions became popular and were so nauseating that I could see that the language changed. You said Hubba hubba when you saw a nice-looking girl. This would be kind of crude today~! SAM

I love it when people tell me their favorites, but I always have to go back and look at which words and definitions the #s match up to. In this case, when I saw crib, I couldn’t figure out for a minute why I’d said third rib down from the top. Then I got it… A rib, B rib, C rib. Sometimes even I don’t “get” my own definitions. # 10 is quite obscure as well. Just can’t help myself.

I wish people would ask when a definition is not clear or if they feel they don’t get the entire clue! Sometimes I want to explain it right afterwards, but I’m really curious about what is translatable and what isn’t.
