Indigo
The color known so well by teens
that is used to color jeans?
Bet you thought, as I thought, too,
indigo was a shade of blue.
Yet, upon further inspection
during internet detection,
it seems more pupleish a hue
which transforms itself to blue.
For dVerse Poets Quadrille Monday the prompt is “indigo.” (Image by Levi Strauss)

I still enjoy wearing my jeans….comfy and well worn. Indigo me a sky…..

Great poem, Judy! I always thought of indigo as a shade of purple because of ROYGBIV. Lol!

Well done! And if you read the entire prompt, when material is first dropped into the dye vat, it turns a chartreuse green! Even when you take it out of the vat, it’s first chartreuse green…..only when it’s out of the vat and oxidized (exposed to the air) does it begin to turn blue then the purple you mention!

Judy, the way you blend curiosity with humor makes the discovery of its true hue feel fun and lighthearted.

I thought it was more blue also. I know roygbiv makes it halfway between blue and violet.
