Sole Survivor
The colors flow early, stirring the air,
waves churning stray strands to mix in her hair.
She stands in her spot behind the large cake,
not sure if she is asleep or awake.
Sincere salutations buzz in her ears.
Until all of a sudden, the truth reappears.
She sits at her table, alone and forlorn.
on this 95th year of the day she was born.
For The Suday Whirl Wordle 771, the prompts are: waves cake strays strand churning spot buzz colors sudden flow early stirring

It a bitter-sweet thing to outlive so many of your intimate and dearest. My ma always thinks about her close mates and husband on her bday.
This is a touching poem, Judy.
