Turkey Talk for Tuesday Writing Prompt

Turkey Talk

When we walk, our wattles wobble
causing us to “Gobble gobble,”
but seeing axes near our neck,
we hit the road and run like heck!
We await November with much gloom,
for your Thanksgiving seals our doom.
It is a truth that we all rue
that then our gobbling ‘s done by you.

For the Tuesday Writing Prompt,Nov 23, 2021: Write a poem from the point of view of a turkey.

Eternal Is

Sacred Heart

Eternal is a mist that doesn’t lift.
It is a wish, a sigh, a dream, a promise made,
a promise kept. A goal for some, for others
a dark cloud that will not lift.
Yesterday, today, tomorrow,

what we make of this life
makes eternity.
We can blame it on no other.
Gods do not make eternity
but only furnish directions
often misinterpreted
or lost to time.
Look within
to find it,
for it is neither there
nor there.

Cruel Games

Cruel Games

Tonight I am impervious to your charming lies.
They float like a conglomerate behind your velvet eyes.
Save your naughty bedroom tricks for your other hotties.
They hide like buried hatchets under buried bodies—
taloned falcons you disguise as the grip of love,
but I know the difference between raptor and dove.
Cruel actions are not love just because you name them so.
For me love is warm currents and not the hidden undertow.
The game you play may be enough for your other fools,
but the game of love I crave is played by other rules.
