Cee’s Oddball Photo Challenge 42

Is it just me, or do the upside-down shoes look sorta angry and threatening? I think these shoes could give a toddler a complex.

Yes, you are correct. This sign in Spanish is telling us not to molest the crocodiles! I trust on the other side was a sign telling the crocodiles not to molest us! For the rest of the story, go here.

    That was fun.
Did you make the crocs or buy them?
    And speaking of crocs –
Did you hear about the female alligator who went to the police because she said she was molested by an animal.
It turned out to be a croc.
    (a little sexist funny – I’m afraid)

You mean the shoes? Neither. They were for sale at a shop selling beach wear and items in the little Mexican village where I am staying for 2 months. A found photo opportunity! I had Crocs on my feet, however, and there were real crocs in the river a block behind me. More about that in earlier posts! Thanks for reading and commenting.

Ha! Not really sexist..i can’t find the comment I made to this post, so i’ll try again and risk repeating myself. The Crocs were on a rack in a souvenir shop. I did have my own Crocs on, however. Merry Xmas!!! Judy

These are great shots and what bothers me is wondering who got close enough to the crocs to molest them in the first place, that made it necessary to put up this sign.

You can either go close to the lagoon and river on raised wooden platforms and walk a ways along the river…They have wire mesh, but you could poke things through them. Sunset dragon, Mexican children tend to feel wildlife is something to poke at, kill or throw rocks at and those children grow up to probably have pretty much the same tendencies. I live by a lake where it is believed every snake should be killed. Parents encourage this, even though the snakes along the lake are harmless. It is also possible to go onto the river in boats with operators, so things could be cast from the boats. Crocs can come right up to the fence that adjoins the road, so it would be possible to interact with them in a manner where they were at risk and the “molester” wasn’t. So, the signs, which are humorous when you don’t know the entire story, are actually necessary. I know this is not a purely Mexican tendency, but there is less of an awareness here of preserving nature, in spite of efforts to the contrary.

Congratulations on being featured for this challenge! Those shoes are pretty funny, I’d wear them. I can see how the upside down ones look a bit grumpy. The sign is a trip and at the same time I can’t help but respect it. 🙂 Even if they are predators we shouldn’t go alone messing with them.

    Thanks for sharing.
