I so rarely get down to the garden when all the zinnias are fresh and unmarked that I just had to make them my flower of the day once again. They are so perfectly perky that if they were humans, they’d be annoying, but since they are just flowers, they earned my undivided admiration.

My son and I planted zinnias by the mailbox this year (to help w/ curb appeal for the house we’re trying to sell). And “someone” said we planted them way too late — they’d never flower in time. We ended up postponing the date to put our house on the market (not because of the zinnias ;)), but they bloomed right on time (per the original date, way ahead of time according to “someone”). But I was not surprised, nor was Elliot. WE KNEW THEY’D BLOOM ON TIME!! (Does that make us human zinnias?)

I love zinnias. They come in every possible color and they are so cheery. If only they weren’t annuals.

I don’t grow annuals because I can never keep them alive. These zinnias are gorgeous. 😀

They are perennials here because it never freezes, I guess. Keep reseeding themselves.
