Still Don’t Know the Name of This Flower!
I am still trying to remember the name of this flower. I have a paler variety at home but these beauties are in bloom on the Lake Chapala Society grounds. I love the seed pods as well, so I’m showing one above. They burst open and spill out the black bee bee seeds, insuring a new generation of plants.

No clue either – sorry!

Looks a lot like Canna. I am not that familiar with it, but it’s the general correct color and shape.

Ah…You will relieve a big question in my mind. I’ve been trying to recall the name for over a year, have looked through numerous sites for flowers of Mexico. I only found it on one, and it was not identified!!! I’ll owe you if you find the answer. Thanks, Nomad.

There is a website called like that Garden.

It has several apps to answer questions using your cellular phone to take a photo of the item in question and it attempts to answer your questions.

The closest match is a Heliconia from the Columbia Town Heliconia Antioquia.

It could also be a type of red ginger. The leaves look like ginger

I thought the same, but couldn’t find any ginger images that resembled it. Thanks, Hobbs, for your comment!

Bless you, Hobbsart! I looked and looked under heliconia (although I was spelling it haliconia) and couldn’t find any picture of it, although I did find a picture labeled ginger and heliconia–so of course I couldn’t tell which it was because although I thought it was one of the two, its image wasn’t shown in any website devoted to either. It is just so different from any other heliconia, that I needed verification. How did you ever find the site that identified it? So glad there are people with strong curiosity and that “help” gene! Hope I can return the favor some time.
