Since my flower bank was completely empty, I went out and took dozens of shots of different flowers today, but at I was going through them––cropping, sharpening, nudging this way and that––this is the one that most captured my interest. So, here it is––a photo so evocatively personal that I feel as though I’m invading the plant’s privacy in sharing it. This is a purple/blue Thunbergia Grandiflora undressed. Its petals have fallen to ground leaving other beauties exposed. Soon there will be a new bud for a new year that I wish you happiness in!!

Georgia O’Keefe could of done wonders with this flower…

Yes..My skill only extends to snapping the shutter and cropping and nudging the photo. Imagine being able to paint this…What close attention it would give us the excuse to pay!!

Judy,I know very little about photography. I do believe the shutter on your camera left this flower fully exposed!

Well, I think along with Georgia O’Keeffe, she had much to do with our tendency to see the phallic or venereal in nature. I came long after.

Me too, despite the British tendency to like bawdy songs and stories (with which I sometime shock my PA).
Judy Chicago lives in Belen south of ABQ, so we do get a fair dose of her.

You got a bit of GO’K in her day as well, I bet. What is it about New Mexico?

Dunno; you should come and check it out. I’ve been here 28 years and adore it.

I actually owned land near Albuquerque that I inherited from my folks but I ended up letting it go for taxes because someone established a nuclear dump nearby and I feared being sued by some trespasser who contracted some radiation-caused disease! There were also no roads to it. We went to see it and couldn’t get close enough to see what it was about. Probably worth a million now–ha!
