Lulu and Annie

I dreamed last night that I woke up and my cat was on my chest. I was surprised because she won’t come any farther than the wall to be fed since Morrie, my third dog, came to stay. My first cat, Lulu, moved out and in with the neighbors when I got my second dog. At any rate, I petted my cat, so glad to see her but wondering how she got into the house. Then suddenly another cat jumped up on the bed . I saw that it was Annie, my youngest cat. So who was the other one??? I opened my eyes to see it was Lulu who had come back to visit. I was so happy to have them both together again and we lay there (in the dream) for a long time. When I woke up I was still pleased that I’d seen Lulu after all these years, then realized it was a dream.

Both of the girls displayed an interest in my work, although Annie had a bit more of a technological bent.
One day, I caught Lulu giving Annie climbing lessons. Here she is between the glass and the screen, so there was little danger of falling, but some danger of not being able to extricate herself.
For advanced lessons in climbing, they moved to the pistachio tree. Yes. You can believe your eyes. Lulu does have one green eye and one blue one.
Last night when I was out to dinner I ran into Lulu’s “new” parents who told me she’d been very ill and asked me how old she was. They were surprised to discover that she’ll be 15 years old in a few months. They thought she was much younger. But, alas, they told me she has been very very ill and has not been eating which never happens with her. I am afraid to call to see if she passed in the night and came to visit me one last time.

I love the heart image your kitties made when posing for that beautiful photo.

I can’t believe that I hadn’t noticed that, abc…but I always will now!

That eye thing, is not so uncommon. It’s when they have extra paws you wonder …”what happened there”? Cheers Jamie Holding the Ball https://hirundinedotnet2.wordpress.com/

Someone told me that only cats with three colors like Lulu ever have the two different color eyes. I always forget what it is called–is it calico? I’ll have to research and erase this fast if I’m wrong!

Aha… just did some research and learned this on Wikipedia about odd-eyed cats: “An odd-eyed cat is a cat with one blue eye and one eye of either green, yellow, or brown. This is a feline form of complete heterochromia,[1][2] a condition that occurs in some other animals. The condition most commonly affects white-colored cats, but may be found in a cat of any color, provided that it possesses the white spotting gene.” So, I stand corrected.

And made me tear up. Poor babies. They must feel banished. Although Lulu has had it really good. I don’t think she misses me! i just can’t get Annie to come down off the wall though. When I try to bring her into the garage to play or eat she just flees…even though the dogs can’t get in there.

I love making anyone smile, Terri, but appreciate how often you tell me that I’ve helped you to do so.

Amazing photo of Lulu in the tree. It’s strange how dreams can cross over into ‘reality.’ At times, our dream selves can sense things that we are not aware of.

Yes…I need to go see her but also am reluctant to. How many people feel I think when friends and relatives are very ill. We hope if we don’t face up to it that it won’t happen.

What a sweet dream, Judy. Please let us know, though we would be sad to hear, if Lulu did pass last night and came to you for a last visitation. I wouldn’t be surprised. I also wouldn’t be surprised is you had more visits. These things happen as you well know.

Yes…it has happened to me with humans, but never with an animal before. I just keep putting off calling to find out how she is. Spent a good bit of time reminiscing as I sought out these photos, scanned and edited them. Such sweet kitties they both were and hilarious together.

Is this a real dream that you had? If it is, how could you remember everything so vividly? I loved how you told the stories with pictures.

It was… I didn’t remember it when I first woke up, but when I went to feed Annie it suddenly came back to me. I was struggling to remember my dream but as always, when I try to remember, I can’t. It needs some other prompt–perhaps visual–to bring the dream back.

What a lovely & illustrated story. Cats are clever and independent. Our cat suddenly disappeared some years ago and I still look for him in the neighbourhood

I have another darling one of them that I’ll post a few days from now so as not to look too indulgent!! They were so adorable as kittens and as cats together.
