Well, I was 17 years old, so everything was romantic! But, yes, it was an incredible, life changing experience for this very sheltered kid. I lived with a wonderful family for three months. I still dream of going back!
I wound up in Ethiopia. Not on AFS, but just traveling and ended up staying for a year and a half. I wouldn’t go back now.. Like to remember it as it was, although it wasn’t an ideal time to be there at the beginning of the revolution that deposed Selassie.

The Bougainvilla make me think of my summer in Tunisia, many, many years ago. Just so beautiful!

What took you there? Now I have to look up where Tunisia is. I think North Africa. Here I go to Google.

I was with the AFS exchange program. I thought I’d go to England, but ended up in North Africa. Fantastic! I lived in the old holy city of Kairouan.
