They deliver two different messages, but the cropped version is more emphatic, or more dramatic, if you will.

I liked the contrast between the telephone poles and flowers, but agree with you that it is also nice to see close up.

The contrast or lack of it is what I mean about two different messages: contrast between nature and civilization vs. glorious nature with no civilization signs visible.

They tell very different stories — I like them both! It’s interesting that, as much as I love the heliconia flower, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it opened up so much, like a bird of paradise!
