Yikes — I was going to comment on this in the morning — and then I just heard about a major quake in Southern Mexico — are you far enough south to have felt it? I hope you are safe and away from the tsunami it seems to have generated!
No.. this wasn’t a quake. They broke into the old wall to create an opening for apartments or whatever they are building. My friend’s son had done the mural they cut through.
Oops — I didn’t mean to confuse the issues of the door and a quake. I love the pictures of what had to be a wonderful mural — and am saddened that it was cut through for a door. Separately, I just heard about an 8-point quake in Southern Mexico this evening, with a tsunami following it to Acapulco and Cabo San Lucas — hoping that you are safe, and wondering if you felt it or were/are affected by it (I guess not!).
I’m glad to know there are safe places in Mexico — the bad publicity has now spread to Cabo, and there are State Department warnings against travel there. How sad!
This was a solid wall. When they built this building behind it, they just pounded holes in the wall to make doors to the street. They haven’t squared them off yet. The murals were painted on a brick wall.

No.. Didn’t feel it, although all the dogs were barking earlier.. perhaps that is why.

Probably so — I’m glad you are safely away from where it shook!

Me too. Safely away from a lot of things right now, in spite of the bad publicity Mexico gets.

Those are really a bit weird to look at, at least in photographs. What material did he use to make them 3-D like that?
