Unassuming flower, tall invasive plant.

I have the same problem with Heliconia. Lovely when you first put them in and them they are everywhere, just like your one. I pull them all up and they still return 😑

You are right about heliconia. I thought my gardener just kept planting them but perhaps you are right. They, at least, are gorgeous, although it keeps me busy cutting off the dried leaves.

No.. It is a tall stock whose leaves are green but turn reddish. This bloom is about the size of a quarter.

I like your poem – I can relate! I have planted so many plants in my garden which were gifts or traded that turned out to be more than I bargained for! I have had to dig some of them out so they wouldn’t take over the whole garden! My phlox struggled to appear this year, having been crowded out by coneflowers. I love coneflowers but may have to tame them!

I have been thinking for 30 years that I’d like to plant coneflowers. Guess I am glad I didn’t. I’ll just buy my echinacea!
