Once Again

Once Again

The grass is always greener in another town or state.
Perhaps being a newbie she can start with a clean slate.
She’ll improve her deportment and for sure she will begin
to dress much more sedately. She’ll be neat as a pin.
She’ll insure her own wellbeing by befriending saner folk.
No more life of the party. No more a standing joke.
The other times she pulled up stakes were only practice for
this time, when she swore to them, before she slammed the door,
that she’d make something of herself. They should just wait and see.
This time she’d fall much farther from the family tree.
We hope that she is right and that she doesn’t change her mind
And ask along the self she keeps trying to leave behind.

Prompt words today are grass, newbie, wellbeing, improve and pin.

SO many connections for me! My niece is moving from Santa Barbara area to Boise, ID because her husband believes he can work locally there rather than traveling. She already has a job (architect) in Boise. The problem I see is political — she’s very liberal, and Boise is a pretty conservative town! I do wish them well!

Those sandals look like boots to me — I can’t wear boots because my high arches don’t let my feet get round the corner, and these look as if they might do the same. Besides which, they look terribly hot above the ankles!

Ah, the Eternal City whence all roads lead! Enjoy yourself, have fun, get a cappuccino at Piazza Navona, another one at the bottom of Scala di Spagna, and don’t forget to toss a coin into Fontaine de Trevi. Tip: shoe stores around the latter are still excellent and inexpensive. Tip #2: the best real Italian food on Veneto is found in little basement tavernas. Tip #3: if you are planning to climb to the top of San Pietro to say Hi to Michelangelo, bring a huge bottle of water. I missed that part the first time around, and boy! was I dehydrated!
