Judy, please could you explain to your readers who are not from the U.S. what a STIMULUS Package is? I’m not from the states I’m from England.
Reading blogs from around the world adds to the interest and is a pleasure, but like many other readers, I occasionally find posts puzzling when local issues aren’t explained Thank you, Judy 🙂
Sue, “a stimulus package is a package of economic measures put together by a government to stimulate a floundering economy. The objective of a stimulus package is to reinvigorate the economy and prevent or reverse a recession by boosting employment and spending.” Included in the American pkg. is a check for $1,200 that would go out to each adult citizen who earns less than $75,000 a year ($2,400 per couple) plus $500 per child. That is simplifying. The big shocker today was that Trump has insisted his name be on each check which has slowed down delivery and also amounts to campaigning on his part. Such a sleazeball.

Oh, no! How low will this man stoop? Many of us over here are becoming concerned that he will be voted in for another term, his only opposition appears to be an elderly man with sexual harassment hanging over him!

It’s important to point out to those who are inclined to say “a plague on both your houses” that the Democrats built oversight into this bill and appointed a former Elizabeth Warren person as the first of a committee to do oversight, but trump negated that effort when he signed the bill.
We should all be in the streets protesting these outrages— except we can’t! But we can let our elected officials know—especially those who are allowing Trump’s continuing travesties.
