Loose Lips

Loose Lips

I hear my new assistant is a great man at a party
which may be the reason why he is so often tardy.
Describing my proboscis is his favorite party schtick.
Plus, speculating over what makes his bossman tick.
He thinks I’m ancient in my forties and lists all that I lack?
He can tick “spineless” off of his list when I give him the sack!

Prompt words for today are party, ancient, proboscis, describe and assistant.

Oh part of the responsibilities in my work life was to entertain client representatives and take then out to lunch, or for a drink…..Often I got such as your poem speaks of, whom I could not stop, it being that part of my job depended on putting up with such tripe. In your story it seems that the person telling the stories was the one with the proboscis problem, which to me was never “humorous”, they told stories which were mostly untrue, and very degrading to the ladies they talked about. Yes I did sometime retort and once broke the leg of such a person who went too far~! But my only defense was to always try to avoid such people and if possible call their bluff.

I wrote a ditty about one young such person, partly fiction, but mostly based on something that happened to us in Panama City, Panama where we had a plane layover and being young men went “out on the town”. I hope you can separate fact from fiction, that is up to you~!….

I do not know if I should tell the story about the broken leg but here is the story about Panama City.

Yes and no~! There were two of them and they were bad mouthing the girl I was with, who was a secretary for United Fruit. They were a gay couple, but the type who got their jollies by putting down women. They kept saying very bad things about the girl I was with, I told them several times to cut it out and finally got up to take them both on. (I was rather scrappy in my late 20’s and they would not be the last of this type that I took on for not respecting someone I was with) They ran out of the United Fruit club and one of them jumped into the back window of their car with only his legs sticking out. I grabbed one of his legs forcefully and pulled, (maybe too forcefully) It broke~!

Very long story because I was on contract and in charge of a project for United Fruit and all concerned worked for them; also it happened in the company club.

It does have a fun and funny ending though, The girl involved modeled as “Miss Chiquita”, she was very pretty, very smart and very nice~! She edited, translated and typed my reports, and we were very close in those days.

Stay tuned if you are interested in what happened next~!

Sorry, this was posted a long time ago and at the time I knew or cared even less about WordPress back then as I still do now. My desire in this blog was to get all of my many vignettes into one place in order to catalogue them to complete the book on my travels. I guess I was not thinking as much about comments, which have become more important to me now (especially the positive ones~! HA~!)

I have been going through this, as well as another old blog, and Facebook, in addition to my chapbook, and scattered writings and notes. It is a mess but interesting if I can just get it all in proper order.

I went looking for what I have written about the day after breaking that “Guy’s” leg. Could not find it, but the attached post is about what happened about eight months later when I wrapped up that contract. Sorry about the gap in between, I will fix that as it is important to the book. If you have not read this it will answer why I did not end up with “Miss Chiquita” and live out my life in Panama, her real name was Maria Elana More’, but I had many more places to go and life to live~!

But if you don’t mind the gap you can read about the reason for the friendly break up here.

I feel your pain. I have file cabinets full of old writing and several completed books, even, but I just want to keep writing rather than dealing with them. I should hire someone to help. Anyone want to volunteer?

If I edited one of your books you would not recognize your work…. I may portray you as a contestant on “Necked and Afraid”, or if it was one of your children books, it could some how be X Rated and banned, so no kid would be able to read it. Does Poetic Justice extended to the editor~?

Ooooh and I’m not~? That may be another reason I get no likes.

Judy I did write you a note and sent to your email a day or so ago in case you have not seen it.
Today it seems that everything was happening to me at once. This terribly hot dry heat has caused several things to happen to my water system and I am going three ways at once trying to get them fixed. When it is this hot pipes expand and break, rain water tanks then empty onto the ground, pumps break due to running dry and when I fell I seem to have lost my glasses….. Just trying to get sympathy. Maybe by tomorrow I will be back to my normal happy self…..

I know. Maintenance can wear you out. Luckily, I can find (and afford) people to do the work for me here. If not, I wouldn’t be living in this house. Your place is so ideal, I can see why you want to stay there, but what a lot of work. Could you possibly find someone to live there rent free to take care of the maintenance? Hard to admit we can’t do it all, but we can’t do it all anymore.

As to trimming trees etc I only do this within the house level and it really helps keep me more fit. I am a nut for special equipment. I have two tractors two small lawn mowers, a riding lawn mower which I call a zip zip because it goes forward and backward very fast. My tractors have a front end loader, and several other attachments such as a brush hog for tall weeds. As you can see these are my “MAN toys” as far as I am concerned. As to other things I can get someone to help, but like this water situation it will be Monday before they will arrive with the pump as I will need a new one. Even the best only last about four to five years before they go bad and cost almost 800 dollars. BUT the rain water is really worth it. My problem now is that with the pressure pump down I must exist without it. But I have another pressure pump in “the barn” (actually guest house), complete with everything needed to just move over there even have food in the frig and it too has a washer and dryer so I will have Maria and Eugenia over there to work this week. They are really great help but I only have them one day a week by choice~!

I have tried to have someone live in the guest house but the last time I did this, they stole 12K from me and skipped out, the last I heard they were in China~! Also I am a little up tight about things like cigarettes and drunks so would only have someone I already know. Also like your place, the barn is where almost all of the “stuff” I have collected for years is on display, and though not that valuable in money it is in memories. I have tried to get Maria to live there, if just to be close to me in case I needed her, but she, her sister Eugenia, and other family all live in a little trailer community in town.

My whining over this past week is not normal. It is just because of many things happening at one time when It is so hot I can not even look at it, and due to this virus getting outside help and parts are almost impossible too. Normally I am very happy out here but at times lonely, as you can see from my excessive writing. Sometime there are days that I see NO ONE~! But this coming weekend a friend will come out to lunch…. which we will pick up at a little Mexican Cafe and eat here outside if it is not too hot. I have a great gallery which is on two sides with the third side glassed in, on the South side I have a large outside fireplace where we can sit on cool evenings. Something about a fire that is so relaxing, can even pop popcorn toast marshmallows or make s-mores, but mostly we can tell tall stories with embellishments.

Today I had a man come and put city water in one of my three tanks, and tomorrow I have a man coming to fix a small leak in some piping. All of this is due to the long very hot, dry weather.

I guess you enjoy planning and making, and I enjoy planning too, then also enjoy execution as well.

I still need to show you what “The Barn” really looks like and I built it and much of the stuff inside in it myself. A part of it is a very well furnished shop space and office library with a large “Man Bath” but (too hot down stares to work in the shop right now).

I just had a friend ask if she can come down from the U.S. and stay in my upstairs casita for a month or two, and I said yes. We share the kitchen, pool and yard. She’s a friend I really enjoy who is a writer so it will be good to have her company.
