This is wonderful. I learned about the these hero rats from my late friend Peter–and contributed to the organization that trains them as he’d requested before his death. I plan to continue contributing each year, as they save thousands of lives and limbs.
Regina, I just added another link at the end of the story. There were more landmines deposited in Cambodia than there are people in the country. Unbelievable.
Interesting. Rats cleaning up land mines some 40 years after the conflicts. We dropped / planted how many land mines !!!! I am not fond of the days life is stranger than fiction…
Guess it is nature’s plan. Good guys don’t kill each other… unless they are convinced by villains that other people are more villainous than they are. There are those in this world who stir up and those that calm. Unfortunately the stirrers are often more entertaining and persuasive than the calmers.
Given the number of rats in OUR government, I feel we need a rat award too. Maybe of a slightly different variety?

Our rats are more likely to drop bombs than to detect them.
