Trip to La Mosca Restaurante–With a Bonus

Yes that’s right. We took a special trip up the coast to visit an oceanside restaurant named “La Mosca” or “The Fly.” My friends went for the fresh fish, I went for the views but ended up coming home with a bonus..a tiny puppy that we named “Zoe” who will be coming home to San Juan Cosala with me tomorrow. She’s already had a number of adventures, as have we, being her companions. You will no doubt see more of her in the future. Luckily, there were more birds than flies at La Mosca.

Here is one video of Zoe at play. I’ll add another later. The best one I took, I forgot to turn the video recorder on!!! Of course.

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Yes. I asked whose dog it was and they said, “Abuela’s.” (Grandmother’s.) I held her for a long time and after I put her back in the box, I went into the sand-floored, driftwood-walled kitchen and asked her if she wanted to sell her and she just laughed. But when I left, a waitress came and asked what I wanted to give them for it. I said “Mill Pesos” which was way more than they were expecting and she immediately said, “Yes.” I went in to make sure it was okay with Grandma and she said she had plenty of other dogs… including the mother. So everyone was happy. Now I hope I’m up to raising another puppy from scratch. She has gotten a lot feistier in 24 hours.

Today I took her to the weekly street market to try to find a little collar and leash and play toy. She drew quite a few admirers, including folks who asked to take her photos..people from second story balconies who called down, people driving by in cars..She was the star of the walk.

She’s made four new converts since she arrived home. David and Sergio next door and Catherine and Sheila at my house. The dogs inspected her a bit but were a bit overwhelming and the cats are still trying to figure out what she is. We’re keeping her sequestered for now.

Zoe is the best restaurant trip bonus! Worth all the pesos for the happiness that a pup brings to one’s life. Maybe you would like Coco to join Zoe for zero pesos? Just joking, the boys would go nuts.
