Fleeting Moments are built into nature as they are into our lives. Be they beautiful memories, unbelievable experiences or disastrous events, they come and they go–often too quickly. Many would be forgotten were it not for the click of a lens. Here are some of mine.
The featured photo called me in from Twitter. I’m having their eggs waiting to hatch on my gate as we speak. I caught her on camera laying them. I’m glad to see all the rest too.

They are such fascinating creatures. I watched this female with the male on her back for a half hour or more climbing my studio wall up to the floodlight. When she arrived, she combed the hot surface of the bulb with her “hands” and I then would put them into her mouth. I wondered if she was combing dead insects off the surface. Fascinating.

Your praying mantis photo captivated me too. I continue to enjoy your photos especially (the water lily one stood out for me, and I love the look on your husband’s face in “You Have Become the Art You Lived For”).

I felt like a bit of a voyeur looking at that picture of those praying mantises. Hey, get a room!!

I know. But in spite of its X-rating, I think it is my favorite photo I ever took. I was all alone in Mexico. Knew no one, and really got into the insect life. So many exotic new ones.

Derrick, the only “facts” of my childhood I remember are ones triggered by my sister’s photographs. I am so grateful to her. Now I’m doing this for myself. Half of the photos from 15 to 20 years ago I do not recognize people in the photos but once I figure out where I was in them, the memories come flooding back.

The pic of us ready to board was a fun reminder – and funny to remember when the pilot took a nap, leaving Dan to watch the controls!

He did??? I didn’t know that. Had Dan ever flown a plane before? That was such a fun trip. I’m so glad we did it. It was always fun traveling with you. to Baja that time, as well.

It was on automatic, but you’d think the pilot would at least be watching for UFOs. He must have thought that Dan was trustworthy, which he is of course, but not flying an airplane!

I’m glad I didn’t know it back then…

Your words…so true. A collage was the perfect way to show a diverse look at fleeting moments. I love the preying mantis, that appear to be looking at themselves in the mirror. lol. Great capture, and Fandango said it best. lol I thought the airplane wind was clever, and I can completely relate to the person sitting on the rock in reflection.
