Cold-Hearted, Short Little Prompt Poem

I woke up to this prompt from Forgottenman:
No friggin’ idea why, but I just conjured up a three-word prompt: anvil, fluffy,                        sediment. Do with them as you will or not. (Yeah, I needa head to bed.)
I’ve said before that I am game for any challenge, so here goes:

Cold-Hearted
You’re fluffy as an anvil, as sweet as cod liver pie.
The sediment from the hearts you’ve broken piles up so high
that you can’t be seen behind it, so there you sit, alone.
reflecting on the shattered loves for which you must atone.

Ha. I wrote a poem about the worst possible concoction I could think of and you’ve figured out how to make something delicious out of it! And healthy, no doubt. But I am very allergic to fish and shellfish so don’t invite me for dinner!

When I was little, cod liver oil was taken every morning along with other vitamins (or maybe instead of). I liked it until I didn’t have to take it, and then, after a break, I realized how awful it was. I can’t imagine a pie or a salad made with cod liver oil!

Couldn’t let him stump me! But, I had an hour and 15 mins. to get swim exercises in, to shower and dress and get ready for Eduardo’s English lesson, so I had to hustle. This took all of 5 minutes.

Heh. You actually wrote an amazing ditty with those prompts! So weird. This all happened between 2:15 am and 2:17 am, when I Skyped you the 3 prompts. Anvil popped into my head. I don’t recall seeing an anvil or hearing/reading the word in months. Fluffy popped into my head almost immediately, which is easy to explain as a counter to anvil. Sediment settled in maybe 7-10 seconds later.

Absolutely brilliant. Reminded me of Dorothy Parker I can’t get into your blog to comment there because the device says I’ve already been there, done that. Can’t stand all this shit, trying to log in. Ugh. Most of my passwords don’t even work.

I have a book of Dorothy Parker’s quips that I’ve had since I was a little girl. My mother must have had it and passed it on to me. That is a great compliment. Thanks. Guess I won’t be invited to the Algonquin any day soon, however. I think all of its participants are long departed. I once wrote a poem about them. I’ll have to try to find it…

I had 6 comments that I had to approve in my blog today and I couldn’t respond to any of them.. Tried and tried. WP just goes bonkers sometimes. At any rate, I got your comments and appreciate them all. Will see if they’ll let me check out your blog.
