The miniature copper and clay pieces in this retablo are all handmade, as is the little hutch. The doll, too, was handmade by a woman in San Miguel, although I added the red shoes and apron. This retablo is one of a series called “Sacred Spaces: Women’s Special Places.” I’m showing this one in honor of Lew-Ellyn Hughes, whose blog you can see HERE.

Saved by the Bell
Write about a time I got out of a sticky situation at the last minute? I’ve written about this at least twice before. HERE is one of the times you probably might not have read as it was awhile ago. It’s the beginning of a story entitled “Lucky Man” that I had forgotten I’d written! The other times were so recently that I won’t link to them! (Devil #1, Devil#2–I think unless you are very new to this blog you must have read those two.)

“Brokedown” Zinnia: Cee’s Flower of the Day Challenge,10/13/15
“Brokedown” Zinnia
I don’t know why this “brokedown” zinnia appeals to me so much, but it does. It looks like it took a bite out of this little berry hanging over its shoulder a week or so ago and then just let it hang!

“Tend Thy Own Garden”
“Tend Thy Own Garden”
Happy Place: This week we want you to show us where you go to get your groove back.

I thought I’d show you a few random non-floral shots of my garden. It is always a renewal to go outside, and Mexico invites me to do this more than anyplace else I’ve ever lived. In Candide, the wisdom that Voltaire eventually comes to is the truth that happiness comes from tending thy own garden. I find it comes from tending my own garden with the help of Pasiano!
Paint : Travel Challenge
We drove into a remote part of Michoacan to find a clay artist we loved. Once there, the pictures were as alluring as the art! Sometimes the materials rival the end result!

Crowd Control
Crowd Control

Whether you wrestle them down, net them, slay them or bore
them into submission, crowd control is often necessary.

Wallflower Bougainvillea–Cee’s Flower of the Day Oct 8, 2015
Wallflower Bougainvillea
I love this shy little wallflower, so I’m going to let her be the star in this late post.

Addendum to In Spite of Our Wishes for All Good
I was in such a hurry to get posted today that I didn’t explain the picture I used with today’s poem about the nature and interrelationship of good and evil––(In Spite of Our Wishes for All Good). A friend commented on the picture on Facebook and I wrote an explanation, then decided to edit it into my post as well. If you are/were curious about why I used that picture of the man with the machete to illustrate my poem, go Here to read the explanation at the end of the poem.
