Bougainvillea: Animal Games–Cat Watching Bird
You probably can’t see the cat or bird yet.
Still can’t see them? Look below.
If you still can’t see them, try clicking on the picture to enlarge it. These photos have not been altered or added to in any way except for cropping and sharpening.
I’m back home and all is well after a harrowing 24 hours. We were lucky on this one! I’ve been without electricity at my friend’s house so I’m still just going on second hand reports, but I am back in my house after being told to evacuate yesterday because of fear of landslides. I’ll tell the story when I get it written but was asked by a friend to just post this fast post saying all is well. Rain started up again but the 100 mph winds threatened never happened and barely a breeze now. More later. Thanks to all who inquired! Judy
Many of you know that Hurricane Patricia hit Mexico last night. It skirted Lake Chapala, where Judy lives. She and her dogs evacuated to a friend’s house at the urging of civil defense officials. I got word that all are doing well this morning, but she is currently without electricity and internet.
Unrealized Toys
In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Out of Your Reach.” Was there a toy or thing you always wanted as a child, during the holidays or on your birthday, but never received? Tell us about it.
I have written to this prompt before. go HERE to read about what toy I secretly yearned for but never received.
Wood
I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to use this picture of a dugout canoe taken on the Amazon in Peru. Black and White is not the right challenge for it, however, as it needs the contrast to green to stand out from all the foliage and other undergrowth rubble.
I thought perhaps cutting out some of the background would help, but there is still just too much business going on!

Seven Vital Words
In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Seven Wonders.”Khalil Gibran once said that people will never understand one another unless language is reduced to seven words. What would your seven words be?
Love, Unity, Empathy, Compassion, Karma, Understanding, Laughter
Keeping it Simple
Show us 4 to 6 photos that you have taken that are extremely simple. Show us your uncropped and unedited versions. Sharpening and saturation is allowed.
This is some sort of strange antenna that was coming out of a very old building. I would love to crop off that bottom fuzzy part, but the rule is no cropping! I was in the car, stopped at a stop light, so couldn’t back off to get a further view but may to back to do so. So strange, the juxtaposition of the old and new.
The plant itself isn’t simple, but the fact that it is a single object and the simplicity of the background caused me to include this picture.

Cropping: show us one before and after cropped simplicity photo.
Color vs. B&W: show us the same photo one color and one black and white photo.

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Do you Believe in Magic?.” You have been transformed into a mystical being who has the ability to do magic. Describe your new abilities in detail. How will you use your new skills?
Go here for my poem about magic. I’ll do another, this is just an appetizer:
GERANIUM

This was the first flowering plant given to me when I moved to Mexico fourteen years ago. It is actually a reddish-pink color, but when I checked out how it would look in white, I decided to post it stripped of color. It just amazes me how much more defined the petals are in black and white than they are in color!
Can you match the place with the picture: Lima, Peru; Villa Salvador, Peru; California; South Dakota; Patzcuaro, Mexico; Missouri.
