Upset Hat

Upset Hat

It’s just a piece of cardboard rolled into a cone.
It really doesn’t make me look like a witchy crone.
I think it’s just a party hat—not really very scary.
It will not cause a single soul to commit hari-kari!

These masks are a formality– they really aren’t inspired,
but last year we liked our costumes ‘cause our grandmas both conspired
to make them more original, but this year just our dad
had time to help and so we know we’re looking kind of sad.

And after all his fussing and running out the door,
we find that all the candy’s gone and so we’re kind of sore.
They gave us bags of potato chips. They haven’t any candy.
And that is why our faces show that we’re not feeling dandy.

Don’t flip your lid, our papa said,
for you are better than that.
So I am trying to be cool…
It just upset my hat!

I used this prompt generator to generate the prompt “Upset Hat”  Try it it is fun! http://jennifernicholewells.blogspot.mx/2015/08/jnws-writing-photo-prompt-generator.html

“Will Work for Quotes”

listen to the babe has passed this prompt on to whomever would like  to participate and I have accepted the challenge.

“Will Work for Quotes”

rules: For 3 consecutive days, write a poem related to a quote you dig. Nominate three WP bloggers whom you’d like to do the same.

What I’d like to do is have each of three people reading this blog to send me a quote to write a poem about.  I’ll write poems for the next three days using the quotes from the first three people who send them. Please attach your quotes as comments below.

Wonderful!  I had the three quotes within minutes.  Thanks so much, Tina, Marilyn and Owen. I’ll write a poem a day for the next three days.

Just Shut Up!

I love this response to today’s prompt and I bestow two awards to its author. First of all, for bravery in the face of pontificating, second of all, for teaching me a new word I know will come in handy in the future. Thanks, Granonine, for your vocabulary and your courage.

Break the Silence

When was the last time you really wanted (or needed) to say something, but kept quiet? Write a post about what you should’ve said.

******************

It would be easier to write a post about the things I’m glad I didn’t say. As a person who finds it fairly easy to have foot-in-mouth disease, I’ve had to learn to just shut up.It’s an ongoing process. And it doesn’t come easy.  I have pretty good radar, and I usually can spot a phony, or just a plain old-fashioned creep, pretty quickly.  That’s when it’s a good idea for me to button the lip.

When I was in college, way back in the Dark Ages, there was an individual of the male species who felt that because he had testosterone, he was automatically entitled to the respect and awe of anyone from the female species.

This person was bloviating, in…

Better Said

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Break the Silence.” When was the last time you really wanted (or needed) to say something, but kept quiet? Write a post about what you should’ve said.

As per usual lately, I find I have already written two different posts about this prompt some time ago.  For my answers, go here:

Dizzy Representative!!

I’ve asked my dizzy alter-ego Libby to guest write this first ever blog on the new blogsite developed by Jennifer. Not sure if I’ll get it posted, but here goes!  A feature of this site is that it generates a new prompt for each person who visits it by pairing an adjective and noun.  The prompt I received is:

Dizzy Representative

and so, with no further ado, I’d like to introduce my dizzy representative, Libby.  And Heeeeere she is:

“Well gee, I mean, I never thought
I’d be the first one to be caught
posting on this rad new site,
I mean, well like, it’s really quite
an honor for a blonde like me
to be the first, but golly gee,
I’m gunna do it anyways,
tho I am sightly in a daze.
I really have been so darn busy
that it has left me feeling dizzy.
That’s why I’m feeling tentative
to be first representative
Wait.  Is that what tentative means?
Or does it describe baggy jeans?
I knew I shouldn’t take the plunge
So I hope Judy will expunge
The words I’ve written here and now.
Otherwise, I’ll take a vow
to never write her blog again,
for surely, ad-Libbing’s a sin.

Love and Kisses,  Libby”
(Judy’s dizzy alter ego whom you will never ever see again.  Promise.)

The 511

I love Anita’s quirky little tale, so I’m sharing it with you, just in case you haven’t already read it!

animar64's avatarANITA'S OWL CREEK BRIDGE

They were two ladies- about the same age with the same style of curly and both had the same type of phone and both were riding the bus to work on what would turn out to be a very hot summer day.

The woman who sat close to the window looked over to her seatmate and smiled and said:

” I really like this phone, don’t you?”

Her seatmate looked up from her phone ( they had the same models ) and down into the hands of the woman who sat close to the window and she saw ” Proverbs” and lots of writing under the bold print.

The woman smiled. Her eyes were dark, her smile was darker and her voice was as cool and refreshing as first breath of Spring.” I love it. You can find anything you need to know on this, “

The woman near the window looked down and…

Do I Really Want to Be Alone????

Do I Really Want to Be Alone????
Here is a fun prompt from Quantum Hermit.  They’ve asked us to go to our playlist and to go to the song number than equals our age and report what it is.

Mine turned out to be “Leave Me Alone” by Blind Dog Smokin’.  I don’t quite know what to make of that! (You won’t find it on You Tube.  It is definitely not the song by the same name sung by Snoop (Dogg) Lion!!! Also not the one by Michael Jackson.  Can’t find it any place but my play list!
