This lovely flower was on my niece Julie’s birthday card. I have the equipment to make cards using this technique.
Here is a closeup:
As soon as I get my ducks in a row, I’ll try making one or more of these Scrolled flowers..

Beach finds create an exotic bloom. I believe they are the gills of a fish and ????? Perhaps a portion of dried kelp

These are the award ribbons I made for the Women’s Invitational Art Challenge I sponsored in San Juan Cosala yesterday. Come back later to see the ten entries and photos of the opening reception. (The flowers are made of corn husks by ladies on the other side of the lake.)

I couldn’t resist sharing these favorite flowers for FOTD. My friend was aghast when I photographed this cinema carpet and stated that I’d gladly use it to carpet a room in my house if I had a different house and could decorate the room to go with it! What do you think?

I gave Yoli this clip for her hair but this was the first time I saw it in her hair. Gorgeous!!! What look like white hairs are only light reflecting off her hair as she is only 9 years old. Look at that hair!!!!
Here is a project I did with friends last year. Go Here to see the post.

I had friends over to make these recycled flowers yesterday. We still have at least one more day to go, but these are the ones I stayed up all night last night finishing…Fun.

If you are curious about the process, this is what we did. You need egg cartons or dividers for the flowers, toilet paper rolls or other thin cardboard for leaves and stems and vines, large sharp scissors, a glue gun or white glue, paint, paper towels and patience.

When I got back from decorating the graves in the Pantheon, this lone artificial flower was lying by my kitchen door, having fallen off the bunch as we carried them to the car. The marigold I found in the street as I left the Dia de los Muertos art show that I had pieces in. Flowers abound during this time of the year.

https://issuu.com/lakechapalasociety/docs/conecciones_agosto_2019_digitalI forgot to post photos of some of the kids enjoying the many activities at art camp two weeks ago. I taught earring and bracelet-making and egg-carton flower making. Useful skills in life. Here they are. Better late than never.

Go HERE to see an article I wrote about Operation Feed, the volunteer organization that sponsored this camp. The article is on pages 26 and 27, but when you slide the bar to get to the page, it will say it is 28. Miracles of the media.

This is the intricately beaded cape of a voladore or “flier.” More about this incredible Mexican ritual later. For now, let’s concentrate on the flowers.
