Frangipani Fever

Frangipani Fever

Yes, the scenery is breathtaking. In fact, it is uncanny,
and what mainly takes my breath away is the frangipani.
The color is my favorite—its texture velvet-soft—
but see its pollen messengers descending from aloft?
They permeate the summer sky. They go where e’er they please.
They wind up in my nostril hairs, then spin out in a sneeze.
When I call it “hay fever,” I know it is a gaffe,
but “frangipani fever” only makes folks laugh.
As I explode each morning—blowing, coughing, wheezing,
I fear the fact they’re “breathtaking” is something less than pleasing.

Prompts today are breathtaking, gaffe, zenith and velvet. Here are links:

Plumeria: Flower of the Day, June 29, 2018

Went on a big photo safari this afternoon with my new camera.  Yay!  Get ready for lots of flower shots. The plumeria is still hanging in there in spite of all the wind and rain lately.  At one point it will be completely leafless as well as flowerless, but thriving now.  Luckily, I have a variety that is odorless I or would have had to have cut it down years ago. I passed under a tree in Chapala the other day and nearly passed out. I’m so allergic to their scent.

My lot slants so much that when I’m in the pool I’m pretty much looking at the top of the plumeria tree, where most of the blooms are. Steady rains for the past three nights have certainly washed them free of any dust and brought out their colors.

My plumeria tree just keeps on blooming this year.  The leaves are lusher than usual as well. I’ll try to enjoy them before the rains come and pick them all!

Plumeria (Frangipani): Flower of the Day, May 12, 2017

My plumeria tree is in full bloom right now.  It is in the lower garden right next to my pool, which is raised about 5 feet above it due to the fact that my house is built on a mountain.  So, the blooms are right at eye level and above.  Perfect to enjoy this lovely stage of growth.

Now, go see Cee’s tulip.  Spectacular!!!

Frangipani (Plumeria)––Flower of the Day, May 31, 2016

This is the tree I asked Pasiano to cut down twice six months ago, when it was in its messy dormant stage where it was dropping all its leaves to stand ugly and gray beside the pool.  I guess I’m glad he didn’t, but may change my mind when it is once again flowerless and leafless!

Well, six months later, Pasiano still hasn’t cut down the plumeria (frangipani) tree, and this year it is especially prolific, so aren’t I glad he didn’t? As usual, click to enlarge.
