Hibiscus: FOTD, Oct 29, 2018

This shadow of a potential hibiscus flower now long dead creates the interest for me in this photo taken months ago in Mexico.

Still not fully opened, I caught this hibiscus half-unfurled.

January 1, 2018 dawned sunny and warm.  This hibiscus opened to a new year.  Happy New Year to all.

Stages of Growth

(Click on first photo to enlarge all)

A bud one day, a flower in two days more. Watching everything grow so quickly during the rainy season brings the miracles of nature constantly to mind. The kittens of three months ago are now nearly cats.  The hibiscus of three days ago is now one more plaything strung out across the bedroom floor that is their playground. They bring in every one they find. I think they think they are little mice!

Budding hibiscus.  This small bud will turn into a huge orange bloom like the one I showed a few days ago.

Hibiscus with Worst House Guest Scenario

Version 4 IMG_4021 (2) Some leaf predator has been busy on this hibiscus leaf, and the severed bud caught in it is a bit the worse for wear as well, but it makes for an interesting picture; and I think the bud to the right in the first picture has escaped devastation, at least.

IMG_4646The culprit causing all this damage is a little worm hidden in this foam.

IMG_4645IMG_4644IMG_4641But this bud and these blooms that will unfurl as soon as the sun is fully out seem to have escaped damage.
